This has to be the easiest, most beautiful, and fragrant craft I have ever attempted.
What an absolute pleasure to make. And fun, too! And quick, did I mention, quick?!
I can’t believe I never made them before. I was definitely missing out.
So here’s what you need to start. Oranges. I bought the smallest most orange-y ones I could find. If they are tangerines, who cares?!
I had wired ribbon (from Costco–inexpensive, around $8 or so, for 50 yards).
And I just happened to have whole cloves. It isn’t necessary to get Organic, they’re just what I had on hand.
Also, if you have a pointy thing-y (mine is from a pumpkin carving kit), that will help start your holes. You can also use a toothpick.
And if you plan to display your oranges in silver, please line the silver with glass (because acidic oranges will wreck havoc).
My wired ribbon was WAY too wide, so I folded it in 1/3′s and wrapped the orange like a present.
Next take your pointy thingy and make a hole (or a series of them, evenly spaced in whatever pattern you like).
Then fill with a whole clove. I use the cloves with the bud intact because they look more like beads.
Keep adding cloves until you are happy with the results.
The fragrance is heavenly. It’s absolutely the best holiday stress reliever aromatherapy!
What a perfectly great craft day. I’m making some as gifts, but if the truth be told, I’m keeping most of them for my holiday decor. Wouldn’t they look terrific on your tree, too?
Now, I can do that! And you can, too!
